Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of basic tax returns and compliance work under supervision
  • Support senior team members with bookkeeping, data entry, and reconciliations
  • Learn and develop skills in Australian taxation and accounting processes
  • Communicate with the team to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, preferably close to graduation or recently graduated
  • No prior experience required

ACT Tax Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead client relationships and deliver high-quality taxation and business advisory services from our South Coast office. This is a full-time position based in Moruya/Dalmeny, focused on managing a portfolio of clients while supporting the growth and development of the local team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of business and individual clients across a range of industries
  • Review and oversee the preparation of Australian tax returns and compliance work (ITR, CTR, TTR, SMSF, FBT, BAS, IAS, etc.)
  • Provide proactive tax planning, business advisory, and strategic guidance to clients
  • Lead client meetings and act as the primary point of contact for key relationships
  • Support workflow management, quality control, and team performance
  • Mentor and develop accountants and junior team members
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client outcomes and business growth

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Australian public practice
  • Strong technical taxation knowledge, including CGT, Division 7A, FBT, SBE concessions, and tax planning strategies
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and providing business advisory services
  • CA or CPA qualified (or near completion)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Xero and related accounting software
  • Proactive, client-focused approach with strong commercial awareness
